HP DesignJet 100

Setting Up Your HP DesignJet 100 Printer

The HP DesignJet 100 is a professional large-format printer. Its setup focuses on assembling the stand (if included) and ensuring a stable, high-speed wired connection (USB is preferred over Parallel) for reliable printing of large drawings and graphics.

1. Initial Printer Setup (For All Users)

Due to its size, initial physical setup is crucial for this model.

  1. Unbox and Assemble: Carefully remove the plotter and all components from the box. Assemble the stand (if you plan to use it) by attaching the legs and the catch basket according to the diagrams provided with the printer. Place the plotter unit securely on the stand.
  2. Install Printheads and Cartridges: Open the carriage access door. The DesignJet 100 uses separate, replaceable Printheads and Ink Cartridges for each color (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow). Install the printheads first, followed by the corresponding ink cartridges into their labeled slots until they click into place. Close the access door.
  3. Load Paper (Roll or Sheet):
    • Roll Paper: Insert the paper roll onto the spindle and load it into the designated slot, ensuring the edge is straight.
    • Sheet Paper: Use the sheet feed slot for individual media.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the back of the plotter and into a dedicated, reliable power outlet. Press the Power button to turn the plotter on. The printer will initialize and align the printheads.
