Setting Up Your HP DesignJet 1055cm Plus Plotter
The HP DesignJet 1055cm Plus is a high-performance, large-format plotter built for demanding professional environments. The installation process involves careful physical assembly, connecting the unit to your network, and configuring the specialized driver on your computer.
1. Initial Plotter Setup (For All Users)
Due to the size of this high-end equipment, careful setup is essential for long-term performance.
- Unbox and Assemble: This is a large unit, often requiring two people for safe handling. Assemble the stand and the media catch basket. Securely place the plotter unit onto the assembled stand.
- Install Printheads and Ink Cartridges: Open the ink system access panel. The 1055cm Plus uses separate, large-capacity Ink Cartridges and replaceable Printheads for each of the four colors (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
- Install Supplies: Insert the four ink cartridges into the supply slots, followed by the four printheads into their corresponding carriage slots. The plotter will automatically initialize and align the system.
- Load Paper (Roll Media): Load your paper roll onto the spindle. Feed the paper into the machine, ensuring it is straight and loaded correctly. Use the front control panel to confirm the media type, which is crucial for color accuracy.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cable into the back of the plotter and into a dedicated, reliable wall outlet. Press the Power button on the front panel to turn the plotter on.
